My coin and Banknotes Collection

I found this RM10 Zeti sign missing security thread in circulation yesterday and I was wondering if this note has been tempered with or is in original shape. I found out this kind of note is not listed in Peter Eu reference book. I went to an antique shop and found that a seller is selling RM180 for an UNC piece. Bank Negara Malaysia is pleased to announce that a new series design of Malaysian banknotes and coins will be issued for circulation in early 2012, an exercise that is undertaken periodically every twelve years. The theme of the design of the new currency series will include features that are distinctively Malaysia. It will also have enhanced security elements in line with the latest advancements in technology for currency notes. The new fourth series design of banknotes will be featured in the denomination of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20 and RM100. The current design of the RM50 banknote already in circulation since December 2007 to commemorate Malaysia’s 50th Anniversary of Independence will continue to remain in circulation. The new design coins are the third in the series for the denominations of 5 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen and 50 sen. This is the latest replacement note RM1 ZAB Zeti Aziz, 10 running number in of course UNC condition. Hopefully this note value will rise up just like ZAA replacement note. Cheers.

This is my humble RM1 Malaysian Banknotes collection. Some of the notes got stain which is I believe due to foxing or maybe because of the plastic cover. The note that I most proud of is of course the RM1 CR Ali Abu Hassan although it is only in About EF condition. Although my collection consist mainly of VF and EF conditioned banknotes, I am still satisfied to finally put together at least one of the notes from 1st to 12th series. If luck and money permits, maybe I can slowly upgrade the condition to UNC in the future. plus another 2 piece of RM50: It has been a long journey to complete the series. But the joy and satisfaction that comes with it is what makes this hobby interesting. Some hardcore collector will find first prefix, last prefix in the series but for me that is a long way to go because it is not cheap. So, hopefully I will complete my RM100 collection before CNY next year. Cheers.

Recently I found a new place to buy banknotes and coins in Asia City Plaza, Kota Kinabalu. The sellers they are quite friendly and the stalls are placed ala flee market style. I went there on Saturday at around 3pm and quickly searched around for any notes that I have been searching for this year. So I ended buying this one for a good price: Obverse RM50 4th Series Aziz Taha VF Condition     So that leave me only RM50 First and RM50 Second to complete my RM50 collection. Of course I can't afford to buy UNC condition. VF is enough for me at the moment. Anyone want to offer selling it for me? Leave your comment. Cheers.
