My Second 10 cent 1971 coin has arrived

I have decided to add another piece of this 1971 10 cent Malaysian Parliament series to my collection. I bought it through ebay Malaysia and it arrived to my mailbox after 3 days of waiting. See? I am an online buyer too, I am saying that because some of my interested buyer are reluctant to buy things that involve shipment and would prefer COD. If you trust the seller than no problem will arise, fingers crossed.

1971 10 cent coin UNC

Back to the story, this coin is  valued higher because of its low mintage which is only 32,236. The other 10 cents mintage is into the millions. This one only 30 thousands. Go figure. The reason for the low mintage varies from some stories ranging from flood hitting the minting factories to closure.

This particular coin is very hard to find here in Sabah. The antique shop is selling it far more than what it is supposed to be selling. Well you can't blame them since the price is subjective and depends on the demand from buyers. That's why the reference books can't be used all the time.

Hopefully the value is going up again the near future. I also hope that more people(younger ones) will take up this coin and banknotes collecting hobby. That is more important. I know this hobby is a bit expensive, but start from scratch taking it easy and slowly. When you see that your collection is growing and getting it complete then that is where the fun is.

Cheers.

RM100 Ali Abul Center Sign Found

It is that time of the month again to withdraw our hard earn salary money from the bank. And as usual for any banknotes collector it is a must to check every notes that reach our hands. If you did not check maybe there is a replacement , solid, ladder or maybe just an old signature that you just didn't realize you can get for free. So this time around, I managed to get 2 piece of RM100 Ali Abul center sign. Although the condition is at best VF(very fine), I am happy and will keep these notes in my album collection. One of the notes is AR last prefix and the second one is AN prefix if I am not mistaken. So the next time you got some cash in your hand, please take a minute and scanned the number or signature of the notes. Maybe got RM1 CR Ali Abul or solid 8888888 number. Wow! Although it is most unlikely.
