50 cent 1967 milled edge @ without security edge

When I was younger, much younger. I remember seeing this coin plenty of times but did not think for a moment to keep it because I thought the one with the security edge is the one that have a higher value. If only we can go back to the past and keep it all.

So buying this coin back after almost 10-15 years now with the price hovering around a perodua viva's monthly ccm is unthinkable to most person. But I have decided to 'invest' in this coin and bought it yesterday.

Now this coin become the third item that I love most, the list being:

1. RM1 Ali Abul Hassan CR banknote
2. 1971 10 cent
3. 1967 50 cent milled edge

The obverse side:

The reverse side:

The price according to Steven Tan's catalogue book

I hope will add the 1968 and 1969 coin in the future.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

My first Ali Abul Hassan RM1 CR note

This is what our current RM1 note looks like:

And this is the RM1 note that I bought yesterday:

Reverse:

Make me eat maggie mee for 2 weeks to buy this note. Haha surely if somebody who are not into collecting old and rare money they will surely buy a RM0.99 icecream using this note at Giant. Sigh.

Some of my friend are also in awe how a mere RM1 can reach price up to RM1500 and above.
Here is the Steven Tan catalogue price:

Mine is roughly between the V. Fine and E.Fine condition. I hope!
Hopefully can add to this CR collection in the future. Don't know what is the price for this note in let say 5 years time?

Cheers

One in 32,236 coins has arrived. The 1971 10 cent coin.

I guess I got a good deal yesterday and decided to buy this coin for my collection. That coin is none other than the rarest coin in Malaysian Parliament series history, the Malaysian 10 cent coin(except if you count the 1 cent bronze and nickel, or 50 cent freaks without security edge). That completes my coin collection from 1 cent, 5 cent, 10cent, 20 cent, 50 cent, RM1 and RM1 big size.

This coin is  valued higher because of its low mintage which is only 32,236. The other 10 cents mintage is into the millions. This one only 30 thousands. Go figure.

Obverse 10 cent 1971 UNC

Malaysia 10 Cent / 10 Sen 1971
Weight: 2.82g
Diameter: 19.4mm
Milled edge.
Mintage: 32,236 only

Who knows maybe in 5 years time this coin will be worth RM1000? Haha wishful thinking maybe. Anyway, do you guys have this coin in your collection? Share the pics please. Tq

Cheers.

Malaya and British Borneo Banknotes

The Malaya and British Borneo dollar was the currency of Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak, British North Borneo and Brunei from 1953 to 1967. Malaya continued to use this currency after independence in 1957 and the formation of Malaysia in 1963, as did Singapore after its independence in 1965. via wikipedia

According to Steven Tan's book. The catalog price for these Malaya and British Borneo Banknotes are:

First Page:

Second Page:

All this notes bear the date 21 March 1953, and signed by W.C. Taylor, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioner of Currency. The 1, 5 and 10 dollar notes were printed by Waterlow and Sons, the 50 and 100 dollar notes were printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. and the 1,000 and 10,000 dollar notes were printed by Thomas de la Rue & Co. Ltd..

Third Page:

As a safeguard against forgery, a broken security thread and the watermark of a lion's head were incorporated in the paper before printing.

Pity for me I got only one piece of this series:

And that is also in very fine condition. Anyone want to buy? RM180 only.

I am interested in these notes but the price is pricey. Will try to add to my collection whenever I got a good price in the future.

I am still on holiday till thursday. Hoping to sell my banknotes (2 sold, 3 more to go) before work resumes on friday.

Cheers.

My 1 cents Parliament Malaysian coin collection

I have always wanted to complete my Malaysian Parliament 1 cent collection but since it is already out of commision it is harder to do.

Thankfully I got this 2 set collection from a friend selling online, and even that is still missing the 1968 edition.

For anyone that is asking which year that this 1 cent come out, check this scanned catalog:

Of course I don't have the 1976 bronze and 1979 nickel.

I got it for a very good price considering these coins is getting harder to find by the days.

Cheers.

This is madness!

I have blogged about how people are searching for Malaysian RM10 first series sa-puloh with agong watermark last month. I have also read about lunaticg experience with people looking for RM500 note with Ismail Ali signature.

But I am stunned when people are searching for this:

Surely this is madness. I am out of words to reply to this kind of buyer.

RM1 ZG ZH ZJ ZK ZL ZM ZN ZP ZQ ZR ZS ZT ZU ZV 14pieces Zeti Paper Money. Is it replacement banknotes?

This is a very peculiar notes because the prefix starts with Z but it is maybe not a Malaysian replacement note. The condition is from AUNC ...
